Club Contact

The new MP3 blog from London's club Contact. The idea is to allow people to hear new music they wouldn't have otherwise found but, if anyone has any copyright issues with a particular song, i'll take the link down. Songs are only available for a limited amount of time.

Minogue, Imbruglia, Goodrem, Valance....a veritable galaxy of stars have emerged from the Australian Motown that is Ramsay Street. However, it's questionable whether any of them have recorded an album as fine as Rogue Traders' Here Come The Drums.

2005's other great dance-pop surprise package (along with Infernal), the group is led by Natalie Bassingthwaighte who plays the fabulously trampy Izzy Hoyland in Neighbours. Anyone who loves the punky electro-disco of Girls Aloud should investigate as soon as humanly possible. The Costello-sampling single Voodoo Child and brilliant Watching You, which pinches liberally from The Knack's My Sharona, may mark them out as children of the late-70s / early-80s but it's a thrillingly modern pop record and one which we'll be hammering for weeks at Contact. You can read a great track-by-track review at I'm Always Right (scroll down a bit). Way To Go! is my current favourite.
