Club Contact

The new MP3 blog from London's club Contact. The idea is to allow people to hear new music they wouldn't have otherwise found but, if anyone has any copyright issues with a particular song, i'll take the link down. Songs are only available for a limited amount of time.

Contact co-founder Enrique Ponce recently introduced me to the absolutely stunning work of French electro legend Jean-Marc Cerrone, a man arguably second only to Giorgio Moroder in the European disco pantheon. Supernature, covered by Erasure and an obvious influence on Goldfrapp, stands as his finest eight minutes. It's the mind-bending, sprawling centrepiece of 1977's Cerrone 3 album - a crazed masterpiece with lyrics about pollution from industrial farming creating a race of mutants that rise up and take revenge on humanity, all set to a spellbinding synth score that echoes Fabio Frizzi's dark soundtracks for Lucio Fulci's zombie movies.

I was obsessed with Cerrone "back i n the day". I was a big fan of Je Suis Music" which I think was the follow up to Supernature.
