Club Contact

The new MP3 blog from London's club Contact. The idea is to allow people to hear new music they wouldn't have otherwise found but, if anyone has any copyright issues with a particular song, i'll take the link down. Songs are only available for a limited amount of time.

Etienne Daho is, as far as i'm concerned, the greatest male solo star of the last twenty years. His success, creative and commercial, paralleled that of Mylene Farmer with enormous acclaim in the mid-1980s leading to icon status and a career spanning over two decades in France.

Mon Manège A Moi is, without doubt, my favourite ever cover version. It's most well-known as a surprisingly perky Edith Piaf number, Daho slows it down, adds a hypnotic bassline and turns it into a unbelievably beautiful modern classic. Fans of French cinema may recognise it as the soundtrack to the most tender scene in the horrifying Gaspar Noe film Irreversible. It's available on his Singles collection.
